Three Peaks Challenge

Peaks

Next weekend five members of staff at King Athelstan Primary School are taking on the grueling challenge of walking up and down the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) to raise funds for King Athelstan's KS1 Playground. This must be completed in 24 hours or less. It will be challenging and involve a lot of physical and mental strength, but we are confident we will conquer the challenge. Factored into this is 450 miles of driving (approximately 10 hours), including driving overnight on Saturday!

Key facts about the challenge:
- Ben Nevis – 1345m, this is the highest mountain
- Scafell Pike – 978m, a Saturday evening climb
- Snowdon – 1085m, 4:30am climb on Sunday
- Overnight drive at midnight

As many of you may know, the school is undertaking a significant project of renovating the KS1 playground (The Big Outdoors Project), which is exciting and costly. We have come up with these challenges to help the school raise some funds for the renovation.

Our children spend half or more of their time at school than at home during an average week. This is undoubtedly a big drive for us to try and help the school improve its facilities. There is certainly a common passion shared amongst us for the outdoors, and this is one of the many reasons we would like to help with this project. We would like our children and pupils to enjoy a lovely outdoor area, where they feel happy and safe.

This challenge is not just about raising money; it is also about showing the young children at school what can be achieved through hard work, grit, and determination. We are proud to do this as one team, and we appreciate your support. Many parents sponsored the team last year, when the attempt had to be abandoned, and we are very grateful for your support. If you would like to contribute this year, that would be much appreciated.
